Remembering Leif

Leif Garretson was my son, who died on April 9, 2008 when he was just 33 years old. I'm starting this blog as a way to remember all the good times and love we shared in those 33 years, and I invite those of you who knew him to add your memories, too.

His death is so sudden and unexpected, and there is so much to do, that I will probably find time only to add small entries for awhile. I hope to make this a memorial to all that he was, to many of us.

  1. I knew him more as Graeloch than anything else, but still called him Leif when we spoke more personally. We met playing Planetside, I was the leader of perhaps the most powerful group in that game at that time. Anyway, we met and instantly became friends. He had a keen intellect and was never satisfied with simply looking at things on the surface. He and I were like minded and liked many of the same things (guns, motorcycles, stylish and fast cars, etc). We talked and laughed for many hours on end and enjoyed many things outside of the game.

Then trouble came for me with a divorce and the many other problems it brings. Leif was always there and listened. I returned the favor in full when he was going through his relationship troubles. I also met and still keep in contact with a mutual friend Garrett Anderson. I am not one for long drawn out stories so let me just say this, "your son touched my life and I will never forget him!" I hope this helps in your grieving by just knowing he had a positive impact on people. I will always remember him as that highly energetic tinkering minded guy who would never accept no for an answer. His loss will sadden me for a long time to come.

Wishing you the best for all times
